May has signed for Northampton

Big-spending Toulon
have confirmed the summer arrival of two more internationals
they continue to strengthen their already impressive squad.
Club owner Mourad
Boudjellal has splashed the cash again to bring in France
internationals Alexis Palisson from Brive and
Sébastien Tillous-Borde from Castres, as well signing
Pau prospect Julien Dumora.
The incoming trio will
join a start-studded squad that has already been boosted by
last week's
shock capture of Wales international
Gavin Henson.

But it's not been all
one-way traffic at the ambitious Cote d'Azur club with two
departures also confirmed this week. Utility back and former
England international Tom May has signed to play for
Aviva premiership side Northampton Saints next season, while
injured winger Clément Marienval has agreed terms
with Montpellier.
The arrival of
Palisson, 23, had been on the cards for many months, with
his versatility much admired by Toulon head coach Philippe
Saint-André. The Brive player can slot in either at
full-back or on the wing, and he has already scored two
tries in 12 matches for the French national team.
"He is a flair player,
one who can unlock a match with a moment of individual
brilliance. He is a star of French rugby," Boudjellal told
AFP.
Tillous-Borde, 25, has
been signed to replace current scrum-half Pierre Mignoni,
who is hanging up his playing boots at the end of this
season to become Toulon's backs coach. The incoming No 9
began his professional career at Biarritz before moving on
to Castres in 2007. He has eight international caps to his
name but has slipped down Marc Lièvremont's pecking order in
the past 18 months due to injury and the form of players
such Morgan Parra and Dimitri Yachvili.

Dumora - who was
described as "one for the future" by Boudjellal - is
currently plying his trade with ProD2 outfit Pau. The
22-year-old fly-half has made 11 starts for Pau this season,
scoring two tries as he continues to understudy the club's
South African first choice Andre Hough.
It is significant that
the three new Toulon arrivals are all aged 25 or under and
French as Saint-André attempts to build a balanced squad of
international quality.
The departure of
31-year-old May for Northampton Saints will see the former
Newcastle Falcons player return to England after two years
at Toulon - where he has been largely used as a squad player
to cover for injuries or international absences. May's
versatility means he can play virtually anywhere along the
back line.
"The experience that my
wife and I have had in Toulon was fantastic, but we've been
back to England a few times to see family and friends and
the opportunity to join Northampton was too good for us to
turn down really," explained May.
Toulon, meanwhile, have
said that Henson will not play against Brive this weekend,
with the recently signed Wales star more likely to debut
against SU Agen in Round 19.
Elsewhere in France it
is being reported that Heineken Cup champions Stade
Toulousain are keen to sign All Black Luke McAlister
as a replacement for fly-half David Skrela, who has agreed a
three-year deal with Clermont Auvergne.
McAlister has fallen from favour in the All Blacks' packing
order since returning to New Zealand for a highly successful
stint with Sale Sharks, and he could miss out entirely when
his country's World Cup squad is announced. That would make
him an enticing prospect for European clubs as he would be
available to play when other internationals are away at the
2011 RWC - being held in New Zealand - at the beginning of
next season.
The 27-year-old is also
thought to attracting the attention of Bath, who are looking
for a replacement for the departing Butch James.
McAlister is currently
contracted to the New Zealand Rugby Union until 2012, but
they are likely to be receptive to the idea of cutting his
deal short by 12 months as it would save them money.
Finally, the Zimbabwe
newspaper NewsDay is reporting that sevens star
Manasah Sita will be trialling with two French sides
during the summer with a view to a possible transfer.
Sita currently plays
club rugby in Germany but has caught the eye of both
Montpellier and Bourgoin due to his performances
for the Zimbabwe sevens team.
"Getting this call up
for me was a big thing in terms of my rugby because this is
all I have been praying and hoping for, to make it into one
of the big leagues," he told NewsDay.
If he does secure a
deal in France he will become the first Zimbabwean to play
in Top 14, although Biarritz do have Zimbabwe-born American
international Takudzwa Ngwenya on their books.
