Disaffected Wales
international James Hook has been offered a
"lucrative" three-year contract to join French champions
Perpignan, according to press reports.
The 24-year-old is said to be unhappy
at the Ospreys after losing his fly-half position to 20-year-old Dan Biggar.
Hook has been playing at full-back of late but has made no secret of his
preference for the No 10 shirt.
Earlier this season he was linked with
a possible move to Bayonne - who are currently in the relegation zone - but
a three-year deal at Perpignan would surely prove more attractive for the
Wales star.

Hook is desperate to reclaim the Wales
fly-half berth for next year's World Cup and reputedly believes a move away
from Swansea could help his cause.
Cardiff Blues and Worcester Warriors
are also rumoured to be interested in the British Lions player. Hook, who
has already won 37 Wales caps, still has 15 months to run on his current
contract with the Ospreys and reports claim the Welsh side has already
turned down Perpignan's initial offer.
But the Catalan club certainly has the
financial muscle to tempt the player to France as it seeks to find a
world-class fly-half.
Stade Francais, meanwhile, are facing up to the reality that prop
David Attoub will now join scrum-half Julien Dupuy on the sidelines
after being found guilty of eye-gouging Ulster's Stephen Ferris.
Both players have now been found guilty
of the same offence against the same player in the same Heineken Cup match.
Dupuy was originally handed a 24-week suspension,
reduced to
23 on appeal, and Attoub is now likely to have a similarly
lengthy ban.
Attoub's original hearing was delayed
while further evidence was gathered - relating to a photograph of the
incident - but Judicial officer Jeff Blackett confirmed on Friday that the
Stade Francais player had now been found guilty following Wednesday's ERC
disciplinary meeting.
Attoub was suspended when the original
18th December hearing was adjourned, and he will have to wait further to
find out his punishment, with the ERC expected to make a statement early
next week.
Another player facing a spell on the
sidelines is Bayonne captain Rémy Martin, who has been
suspended by the LNR for 40 days.
Martin's ban was for stamping Stade
Toulousain's Jean-Baptiste Elissalde during their recent Top 14 match, which
Bayonne lost 13-15. The LNR explained that Martin's ban was 20 days for the
stamping offence, and 20 days for breaking a previous suspended sentence.
It is just the latest piece of bad news
in a terrible season for the Basques. They are currently 13th in Top 14 and
this week sacked their second team of coaches this season.
Elsewhere in France, Australian Scott
Daruda is heading home after failing to secure a starting spot for ProD2
leaders SU Agen. The former Western Force fly-half is rumoured to be a
target for new Super 15 franchise Melbourne Rebels.
Daruda, 23, has represented Australia
at Under-19 and Under-21 but hasn't been able to usurp Agen fly-halves
Romain Sola and Francois Gelez.
