Lund will be joined at Biarritz next season by his brother
Erik after the 6ft 8ins Leeds lock agreed to sign for the
Basques.
The transfer, which had
been mooted for months now, was finally confirmed ahead of
Leeds' final league match of the season, and after they had
secured their Guinness Premiership status.
Erik - nicknamed 'The
Viking' - admitted it had been a tough decision to leave
Leeds for the Basque outfit, but admitted that the family
connection had been the clincher in his move.
"There are some obvious
reasons why I decided to join Biarritz, notably the chance
to play alongside my brother, to play in the Heineken Cup
and experience a new lifestyle," said Lund.
"All of those were
beyond Leeds Carnegie's control. However, it was incredibly
difficult because of how special this group of players are
here.
"We have developed a
great team spirit, and that is all about us working
together. It was an uneasy decision for me to decide to
leave that behind," he added.
The Norwegian
international has agreed a two-year deal with Biarritz and
said he felt he was leaving Leeds "in a strong position"
after they secured the Premiership status. "I have got a lot
of friends here at Leeds and I will always have a strong
link to the team," he added.

Fellow Heineken Cup
finalists Stade Toulousain have also strengthened their
squad for next season, with the signing of Dax's Argentine
scrum-half Nicolas Vergallo.
The 26-year-old, who
has seven Test caps for the Pumas, has primarily been signed
as cover for Frédéric Michalak, who will be out until the
new year following a serious knee injury.
Vergallo has agreed a
one-year deal with a further option for another year, but
will behind both Byron Kelleher and Jean-Baptiste Elissalde
(in addition to Michalak) in the Toulouse pecking order.
Heineken Cup organizers
ERC, meanwhile, have announced that the Stade
Toulousain-Biarritz final will be shown live and in 3D in
selected French cinemas.
"This is an extremely
exciting advance and development for our tournament and will
bring our prestigious 15th tournament final to an even wider
audience," said ERC chief executive Derek McGrath.
"It is entirely
appropriate that the first Heineken Cup match to be shown in
3D in cinemas should be the final and we look forward to the
tournament successfully crossing this new technological
frontier," he added.
Full details of the
cinemas showing the match can be found at

Another rumoured
transfer could see France prop Sylvain Marconnet, 34, depart
Stade Francais for Bayonne. According to Canal+ the
deal could be concluded next week, with Marconnet's
departure a reflection of the current financial difficulties
being experienced by Stade Francais.
The Basque club has
been busy in the transfer market since it escaped relegation
to ProD2 - due to Montauban's bankruptcy - and they have
been further linked with a move for South African Joe
Pietersen.
The 25-year-old
Stormers player can fill a variety of roles in the backline
- from full-back to winger - and has previously represented
South Africa at sevens level. Bayonne are also being linked
with Australian flanker Cameron Treloar, who is currently
playing for Italian side Prato.
