ProD2 champions SU Agen have
announced 11 new signings as they ready themselves for their return to Top
14.
President
Alain Tingaud has moved quickly to bolster the club's squad,
with the former French giants adding a mix of experience and
potential to the group which won this season's championship
by 11 points.
Top 14 Transfers 2010/11
The
eight-time French champions from Lot et Garonne are
returning to the big time in 2010/11, and have confirmed
their intention to make an impact with a raft of new
arrivals to bolster a multinational squad that already
includes the likes of Fijian wingers Rupeni Caucaunibuca and
Saimoni Vaka, Tongan number eight Fonua Opeti, South African
fly-half Conrad Barnard (signed mid-season from Toulon) and
experienced Argentine prop Agustin Lopresti.
Former Agen
favourite Manu Ahotaeiloa (centre) returns from Stade
Toulousain, while Biarritz duo Valentin Courrent (fly-half)
and Mosese Moala (prop) will both add Top 14 experience. The
same goes for the Montauban pair of Brice Mach (hooker) and
Beka Sheklashvili (prop). ProD2 recruits include Pau prop
Karim Kouider, Mont-de-Marsan prop Florent Cazeaux and
Bordeaux winger Maxime Machenaud, while international sevens
players Kevin Swiryn (USA) and Osea Kolinisau (Fiji) boost
their already impressive wing stocks.

Fixtures & Results
Agen missed out on promotion
last season despite finishing second - when they fell to
Oyonnax in the play-off semi-finals - but ensured their
return to Top 14 this time around by storming to the ProD2
championship. Their total of 105 points is just two down on
Racing-Métro's haul from 2008/9, although they do not have
the financial backing of the Paris club.
However,
what they do have - like Racing - is a rich history and
tradition within French rugby and they will be widely
welcomed on their return to Top 14. In addition to their
eight French titles - that's eight more than Clermont
Auvergne - they have also been runners-up on a further six
occasions, the last in 2002.
Their trophy
cabinet is further swelled by four triumphs in the Challenge
Yves du Manoir - the former French league cup - as well as
being runners-up in the 1998 European Challenge Cup.
Finally, the
club has also unveiled its three strips for 2010/11 with the
home one being their traditional blue, with white trim,
while their away one is the same but in reverse. Their third
strip, however, is yellow with a red flame and will only be
worn in the European Challenge Cup.
